Autologous chondrocyte transplantation of the knee.

چکیده
Autologous chondrocyte transplantation has been used in the treatment of chondral and osteochondral lesions in a limited number of patients. The results are promising over a medium-length follow-up (2-6 years). Deeper involvement of the subchondral bone may need autologous bone grafting along with ACT. Future long-term, comparative studies are needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment.

Autologous chondrocyte implantation for rheumatoid arthritis of the knee: a case report
INTRODUCTION Although pharmacologic treatment remains the mainstay for treating rheumatoid arthritis, there is an increasing need for a method that biologically regenerates arthritic knee lesions as patient longevity continually increases. CASE PRESENTATION We treated rheumatoid arthritis of the right knee in a 35-year-old female Korean patient using autologous chondrocyte implantation. Twelv...
متن کاملStudy of Human Chondrocyte Redifferntiation Capacity in Three-Dimensional Hydrogel Culture
Objective(s) Articular cartilage tissue defects cannot be repaired by the proliferation of resident chondrocytes. Autologous chondrocyte transplantation (ACT) is a relatively new therapeutic approach to cover full thickness articular cartilage defects by in vitro grown chondrocytes from the joint of a patient. Therefore, we investigated the redifferentiation capability of human chondrocytes ma...
متن کاملBilateral Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Femoral Condyles in Both Knees: A Report of Two Sibling Cases
Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of both femoral condyles is very rare, with no previously reported cases of bilateral OCD of both knees in two siblings. We report on a brother and sister with both femoral condyle OCD with a description of surgical technique and clinical results. Fixation using headless compressive screws, osteochondral autologous transplantation and autologous chondrocyte impla...
متن کاملThe arthroscopic implantation of autologous chondrocytes for the treatment of full-thickness cartilage defects of the knee joint.
Autologous chondrocyte implantation is an established option for the treatment of full-thickness cartilage defects of the knee. Open implantation has a high morbidity. On a resorbable polymer fleece, autologous chondrocytes can be implanted arthroscopically. Transosseous anchoring assures high initial stability of the implant. Tibial defects can be addressed. The arthroscopic technique for the ...
متن کاملAutologous Matrix-Induced Chondrogenesis (AMIC)
Options for the treatment of cartilage defects include chondral resurfacing with abrasion, debridement, autologous chondrocyte transplantation (ACT), matrix-induced chondrocyte transplantation (MACI), or osteochondral autologous transplantation (OATS). This article describes the new method of autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC), a 1-step procedure combining subchondral microfracture...
